Content Module
Click the module to begin editing. Formatting tools will appear which allow for changing fonts, making links, aligning text, making lists, and including media.
The Tools
- Bold, Italic, Underline: Nothing surprising here
- Formats:
- Headings: Headings denote a hierarchy of topics within a page. For example, if each content area covered one topic, each area should have an H2 heading for that topic. Subtopics within would be H3, and so forth for subsubtopics, etc. The "missing" H1 is actually the page's name in the blue bar.
- Inline: The standard text styles, but with some less commonly used options.
- Blocks: Paragraphs are implied by each press of the Enter key, but Blockquotes are best for denoting a quote from a customer or client. Pre blocks preserve whitespace, but have little use outside of displaying computer code.
- Alignment: These options match the buttons in the toolbar.
- Button: Click a link, then select this format to make it appear as a button instead of plain text.
- Insert/Edit Link: Creates a link to another page, file, or site. Selecting relevant text for a link is better than adding one that just says Click Here.
- Remove Link: Reverts a link back to plain text
- Text Alignment: Left, Center, Right, and Justified (newspaper-style), applies to the current paragraph or heading.
- Decrease & Increase Indent: Generally, these are best used with lists to change the depth of an item.
- Bulleted & Numbered Lists: Use bulleted when order doesn't matter and numbers when it does. For example, a recipe: ingredients can be used repeatedly at different points, but the cooking directions have to be followed in order.
- Media:
- Insert Image: From the popup, click the browse/folder icon to open the file manager. Select an image and it will appear in the page content. Resize handles allow the image to be scaled down if it overwhelms the text.
- Insert Media: For most uses, the second tab (Embed) of the popup is where to paste video embed code.
- Insert FIle: Browse for for a file and this will add a link using the file's name. Use the Link tool to change the link's text.
